It appears to be an accident, but it’s not a good omen.

God of War: Ragnarok spoilers have made their way onto social media, so if you’re looking to go into the game blind, tread carefully out there.

The leak itself, while damaging, appears to be an innocent one. A Twitter account (which we won’t link to here) for a user with early code for the game appears to be auto-posting screenshots taken while playing, inadvertently revealing details of the game. IGN has confirmed that the images are legitimate.

While seemingly inadvertently released, the worry is what those images might be used for next. Many major games leak ahead of release, with unscrupulous Twitter users using bots to send spoilers automatically to people using specific keywords, or trolls spamming chat windows and comment sections with major details.

Sony has yet to respond to the leak, with the last screenshot posted yesterday, October 23.

So far, the game looks very much worth waiting for. Our final preview of the game said the first 5 hours “delivered an engaging, emotional story with portions of Kratos violently ripping things in half sprinkled in during the touching opening moments.”
