Marvel’s Blade is in development at the Microsoft and Bethesda-owned Arkane Lyon, and while platforms are yet to be confirmed, Xbox fans are very happy they’re finally getting some Marvel love.

Announced at The Game Awards, Blade will be a “mature, single player, third person game set in the heart of Paris”, and unlike other Marvel games like the Spider-Man series and Wolverine, it’s safe to assume it won’t be a PlayStation exclusive.

It’s currently unclear if Blade will be an Xbox exclusive (though IGN has asked Microsoft and Bethesda for comment), but as Marvel isn’t against giving its games console exclusivity, it’s certainly possible. The best case scenario for PlayStation players would see Blade be multiplatform, but given other Bethesda games like Redfall and Starfield are Xbox exclusives, fans maybe shouldn’t get their hopes up. And for those on PC, it’s all but guaranteed.

IGN’s Twenty Questions – Guess the game!

Welcome to 20 questions. Can you guess the game?

“Finally some Marvel love coming to Xbox,” said halonone on Reddit. “Xbox hitting hard this Game Awards,” added Dry_Antelope_5411. “If Microsoft starts putting out Marvel titles for all the B and C characters I am 1000% on board,” said Vashek19.

Exclusivity aside, a lot of people are just super excited that Arkane Lyon — the developer behind Dishonored and Deathloop — are making a Blade game. “This is gonna be sick as hell,” said galaxyadmirer. “I am so in,” added QualityDude615. “I love Blade and I love Arcane. I was hoping for Dishonored 3 but this will suffice.”

The irony of Arkane, who most recently released the disastrous vampire game Redfall, developing this game about vampire hunting wasn’t lost on some fans, of course, but the reaction was generally positive. “Arkane’s vampire redemption arc,” joked TheRemedy. “Let’s go.” Blade is being developed at Arkane Lyon though, compared to Arkane Austin which created Redfall.

As for other Marvel entries, Xbox did receive the multiplayer live service game Avengers, but this was poorly received and was soon shut down. An Iron Man game is also being developed at EA, and another starring Captain America and Black Panther is also in development at Skydance Media. Platforms are currently unconfirmed for both.
