What’s New on Streaming This Week: Top TV Shows and Movies on Netflix, Peacock and More [CNET]

View Article on CNET

It’s the circle of streaming life: When one show ends, another begins. This week’s biggest streaming releases include exciting season finales and the return of several hit shows, plus loads of other new originals to tune into.

On Netflix, season 6 of Cobra Kai premieres July 18 with five new episodes. You can also catch a brand new season of the abstinence dating competition Too Hot To Handle on the platform on July 19. Hopefully those two premieres will make up for the fact that The Acolyte on Disney Plus is ending this week; the season 1 finale will air July 16.

On Max, the documentary The Commandant’s Shadow picks up where Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar-nominated drama The Zone of Interest left off. The film provides an intimate look at the life of one of Rudolf Höss’ adult sons who grew up next door to Auschwitz and eventually meets one of his father’s surviving victims. On Peacock, the new original series Those About to Die starring Anthony Hopkins is out this week, and Hulu‘s got a new season of Marvel animated series Hit-Monkey.

Find out everything you need to know about all of this week’s biggest titles below.

Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 1 (July 18)

It really seemed like Cobra Kai was the reboot that would never say die. The Netflix series has certainly extended the legacy of The Karate Kid and given it a modern update, but it’s time to slowly start saying goodbye to the series that depicts just how integral karate rivalries are in the San Fernando Valley. Season 6 will be a three-parter; part one drops July 18, while part two comes out on Nov. 24, and part three arrives in 2025.

Too Hot to Handle, Season 6 (July 19)

Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle heads into its sixth season July 19, and the show that forces young, sexy singles to abstain from any kind of physical intimacy is back with some big twists and surprises. (You’ve gotta love a show that’s based on the Seinfeld episode, The Contest. Or maybe you don’t gotta love it — to each their own!) This season, Desiree Birch is also back as the voice of Lana the disembodied robot/rule-enforcer, but she’ll also be joined by “Bad Lana,” which is hopefully as juicy and evil as it sounds.
