Unicorn Overlord is now available for just $34.99 in the Prime Day sales, which is also the lowest price we’ve seen for the PS5 version since its release. IGN awarded Unicorn Overlord an “Amazing” 9/10. You can read our review to understand why it’s considered one of the best console strategy games in recent history. Persona 3 Reload: $34.99 for Prime Day 2024

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance: $39.99 for Prime Day

It might have just come out, but thanks to Prime Day, the PS5 version of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is already on sale for $20 off. That is — if you have a Prime membership. And it’s the launch edition, too, so you get some extras and bonuses. You can grab a copy here.

Originally released exclusively on Nintendo Switch in 2021, SMT 5 got an enhanced re-release in the form of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. This newer version is available on all modern platforms and includes a new storyline with new locations and demons. It’s the definitive version of the game. The launch edition included in the SMT V Prime Day deal comes with an exclusive steelbook and “2 sacred treasure sets” DLC.

Sonic Frontiers: $19.99 for Prime Day 2024

There’s some great Sonic games on sale for Prime Day. I’ve got some incredibly fond memories of Sonic Frontiers. It felt like a step in the right direction for 3D Sonic fans, and I’m hoping any follow-ups can nail the story and gameplay a little bit more. As always, the music was sensational and I enjoyed replaying the Cyber Space levels endlessly – especially ‘1-2’ which was some of the best speedrunning challenges we’ve had in the game in a long time.

In IGN’s 7/10 review, Travis Northup wrote that “Sonic Frontiers is an ambitious open-world adventure that mostly succeeds at mixing up the Sonic formula, even when some of its ideas fall flat.” It’s down to $19.99 for PS4 and PS5. Don’t be a fake hedgehog – consider picking it up at this price.

Octopath Traveller 2: $29.99 for Prime Day 2024

Octopath Traveler II was one of the most overlooked RPGs of 2023, featuring an extremely unique narrative with the perspective of eight characters. Utilizing Square Enix’s HD-2D technology, Team Asano heavily built on the foundation that was laid with the first Octopath Traveler in 2018. If you’re interested in the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, this is a great chance to experience an HD-2D title for the first time.

The Last of Us Part I: $44.99 for Prime Day 2024

It’s one of the greatest games of all time and has hit one of the best prices of all time for Prime Day. A top pick for open-world PS5 games, and down to just $34.99, this is the perfect opportunity to pick up Elden Ring and get stuck into the lengthy open-world life-altering experience that is the Lands Between. Once you’re done with that, be sure to check out the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion DLC as well, as it’s another all-timer and one of the best expansions ever to be released. High praise from me, and the IGN reviewer Mitchell Saltzman even gave it a 10/10 as well, saying:

“Like the base game did before it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single-player DLC expansions. It takes everything that made the base game such a landmark RPG, condenses it into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, and provides fantastic new challenges for heavily invested fans to chew on.”

Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon: $39.99 for Prime Day 2024

Not to be confused with the refreshing cold beverage brand, Fires of Rubicon features an exciting storyline where you pilot a customizable mech in a dystopian future dominated by warring corporations. The combat is fast-paced and strategic, offering numerous options for customizing your mech. The graphics are top-notch, with detailed mechs and environments that push the limits of the PS5.

When Is the Best Time to Buy PS5 Games?

The best time to buy PS5 games is when they’re on sale. It sounds simple, but it’s the answer you’re looking for. Big shopping events like Prime Day and Black Friday are standout opportunities to add to your gaming collection, and will be when the biggest discounts on games materialize.

But what happens if you miss your shot to pick up a game you wanted while it was discounted or it ran out of stock? Don’t worry, sale events actually happen all throughout the year, so there are plenty of other opportunities to get games at a cheaper price. No matter which platform you prefer to play on, there’s always a deal to find somewhere, whether that’s during a sale event or at a retailer. But, for now, we’re highly recommending checking out the deals during Amazon Prime Day 2024 over July 16-17.

What Is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day is a great opportunity to save some serious cash on your favorite hobbies, at least in my view. The annual summer sale features discounts on thousands of items, with new lightning deals every hour that you won’t want to miss.

As one of the biggest sales events outside of Black Friday, Prime Day attracts many companies, including those outside of Amazon, to offer exclusive discounts. If you’re already a Prime member, you can access the sale without much bother. But, there’s also a free 30-day trial if you’re intrigued and just want to check out some of the new discounts.

Prime Day is absolutely one of the best times to buy physical video games, and although you might not find discounts on a new PS5 during the sale, there are still plenty of deals to check out for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.
