Star Wars: Eclipse delay rumours have been refuted by developer Quantic Dream.

Speaking to GamesRadar, the Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human developer said its new Star Wars game couldn’t possibly be delayed because it never had a release date.

A spokesperson said: “Star Wars Eclipse has not been delayed because Quantic Dream never announced or promised a launch window for the title. Recruiting remains active as it works on Star Wars Eclipse, third-party publishing, and unannounced projects.”

The statement was likely issued in response to an Xfire report that said Quantic Dream was struggling to hire enough staff to develop Star Wars: Eclipse, leading to the game being pushed back to a release date three or four years away.

Lucasfilm announced the game at 2021’s Game Awards in December, making clear at the time that it was still in early development despite showing a reveal trailer.

Like Quantic Dream’s previous games, Star Wars: Eclipse will be a story-based cinematic adventure where player choice affects how the story unfolds.

Almost immediately after its announcement, however, a fan campaign called for Quantic Dream’s involvement in the project to be scrapped.

#BlackOutStarWarsEclipse was trending on Twitter, prompted by allegations in 2018 that the developer fostered a workplace culture of racism, sexism, and homophobia, with studio head David Cage and executive producer Guillaume de Fondaumière at the centre.
