Sony has offered complex information pertaining to its recent announcement of a PS5 remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man, including details regarding the various upgrade paths to the web-slinger’s acclaimed open-world adventure.Speaking in a statement to Kotaku, Sony confirmed that there is no free upgrade path that allows PS4 Spider-Man players to receive the new PS5 remaster. PS4 players can upgrade to a PS5 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man, but this is just a “standard” version of the same game, and not the PS5 remaster. With me so far?PS4 Spider-Man players wishing to pick up the PS5 remaster will need to first purchase the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales release, and then purchase a special “upgrade voucher” at the cost of an additional $20. Alternately, players can outright purchase the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition on PS5, which will include both the PS5 remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Sony has confirmed that there are “no plans” to offer a standalone release of the PS5 remaster. It’s also worth reminding that PS4 save files for Marvel’s Spider-Man will not be compatible with the remaster.Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch on PS4 and PS5 November 12.
