Singularity 6 Teases Palia’s First In-Game Event of 2024 Alongside Nintendo Switch Launch [IGN]

The limited-time activity will take place sometime around the start of the 2024 calendar year (Singularity 6 doesn’t have an exact date yet), and will have players cooking hot pot with the residents of Palia and facing off against one another in a competitive card game.

Luna New Year will follow a similar format as the game’s previous live-service activity, Maji Market, taking place in the same carnival ground area that event made use of and incorporating another limited-time currency players can exchange for new items and recipes.

In an advance showcase, Singularity 6 told IGN that they’ve taken their learnings from Maji Market and incorporated them into this upcoming event, including the decision to move away from requiring gold to purchase Luna New Year items as a way of being more approachable to newcomers.

That approachability will be especially important since today also marks the release of Palia on the Nintendo Switch, a device well-known for being especially welcoming to the cozy gaming community.

“The Switch is the perfect platform for Palia,” game director Aidan Karabaich told IGN. “Early on in development, we knew this game would need to be there, so we’re very excited about this milestone.”

The Switch and PC versions offer both crossplay and cross-progression, allowing players to pick up where they left off on Nintendo’s console. Additionally, anyone who connects their Palia account to their Switch will receive three in-game items: a “forggy bucket,” “mushroom glider,” and “Leapfroggy outfit.”

Palia entered an open beta since earlier this year and continues to deliver updates and limited-time events as part of its early access period. No full release date has been announced.
