RTX Remix Tool for Enhancing Older Games Like Half-Life 2 Gets Beta Release Date [IGN]

If you are a fan of Nvidia’s PC endeavors, you probably heard of RTX Remix, the neat little modding tool that allows users to remaster old games and give them RTX enhancements such as DLSS and ray tracing. And today, Nvidia announced that the tool will finally be available to more users later this month.

As part of its CES 2024 announcements, Nvidia confirmed that a beta build of RTX Remix will be available on January 22. Previously, the tool was available as an early access build. However, no full release has been officially announced after it missed its original window of late 2023.

RTX Remix has already made a few games, such as Portal RTX, Portal: Prelude RTX, and Half-Life 2 RTX. Nvidia officially announced the RTX Remix tool in September 2022, which quickly raised eyebrows amongst the modding community.

During the initial reveal last year, Nvidia showed a ton of potential for what people can do with RTX Remix. This includes a demo of what The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind looks like remastered with RTX Remix.

RTX Remix will be an exciting tool to introduce in the modding community as it will allow older games to get a shiny coat of paint and take advantage of Nvidia’s DLSS and ray tracing tech. Some previous games that received an RTX remaster and are precursors to the RTX Remix modding tool include Quake II RTX and Minecraft RTX.
