Lead PS5 and PS4 engineer Masayasu Ito will leave his role at PlayStation at the end of the month, Sony said Monday. The 60-year-old will switch to a mobility related assignment at the company, Bloomberg reported Sunday, and Sony confirmed to CNET that he’ll support PlayStation as an advisor until March 2023.

Before working on PS5, which launched in 2020, Ito previously worked on PS3, PS4 and PS4 Pro, along with PS VR. He’s currently the group’s representative director and executive vice president in Japan, and Lin Tou will step in as his replacement. Tou will presumably lead any PS5 hardware revisions, and the yet-to-be announced PS6.

PS5 sales hit 20 million in June, while the PS4 hit 117.2 million units sold in March, making it the fourth highest selling console of all time (the PS2 still holds the top spot, with sales of 155 million).
