The healthy premade meal service based in California posts a message to its website claiming it was forced to shut down by lenders.

Fresh N Lean, the popular premade meal delivery service based out of California, appears to have shuttered suddenly. 

The healthy meal subscription, which is CNET’s current pick for best prepared meal delivery for 2024, posted a message on it’s website on Thursday that reads “After 14 years of service, Fresh N Lean was suddenly forced to shut down by ‘lenders.'” While no further information was provided, a link to order Fresh N Lean meals or begin a new subscription showed a 404 error message.

Fresh N Lean was started in 2010 by then 18-year-old Lauren Asseo (founder and CEO) and was one of the first in a new line of healthy premade delivery options to capture the attention of busy people looking to eat better. The service sent premade healthy meals to service a variety of eating plans including keto, vegan, Mediterranean and high protein diets. It was known for its use of whole foods, quality meat and seafood and organic produce.  

It is unclear the whether active orders will be fulfilled or if the company plans to resume business. Company representatives didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
