Like

  • All-latex foam design makes it ideal for average-sized people
  • Great for those who prefer a bouncy and responsive mattress
  • On the slightly firmer side for back and stomach sleepers
  • Backed by tons of quality eco-certifications

Don’t like

  • Not the best option for those on a super-tight budget
  • Not for those seeking a bed with a softer profile
  • Not the most portable mattress for moving

PlushBeds has many premium, ethically sourced options to consider. One of the most luxurious beds in its current lineup is the Botanical Bliss, an all-latex foam mattress that also has organic cotton and wool. If you’re looking for a sustainable bed, look no further.

Our team has been testing this mattress for years now, and we’ve really come to enjoy the luxurious sense of all-natural comfort this bed presents. It’s noticeably of a higher quality than others offered online, and when you lay down and it, it makes you say, “Ahh” — it’s quite cozy. In this review, I’ll break down everything you should know about this bed before getting it for yourself.

First impressions of the Botanical Bliss

This bed is available with a variety of shipping options. You can get standard free shipping, where the mattress arrives at your door in a box, or you can opt for white glove delivery. You’ll have to spend up for this service, but it’s nice to know that you can get more of an in-home setup with this bed.

If you got the route of free bed-in-a-box shipping as we did, there is a bit of a setup process, but it’s relatively quick and easy to complete. Once it’s put together, you may want to give the bed some time to off-gas and fully inflate, but it should be ready to go on night one.

Upon my initial tests, I found this to be a really bouncy and responsive mattress. All of its latex foam layers produce a really springy feel; it almost feels sponge-like, for lack of a better term. When I hopped on the bed, I felt lots of cushions on top, but I didn’t experience any sort of sink-in sensation. I felt buoyant on the bed, it felt like it was propping me up, giving my frame lots of support with plenty of comfort on top.

Botanical Bliss mattress firmness and feel

What does the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss feel like?

Altogether, this mattress has an undeniable latex foam feel. Since it’s mainly composed of latex foam, it’s easy to see why it feels as such. The key takeaway from this style of mattress feel is responsiveness. It responds almost instantly once pressure is released from it — basically picture the opposite of a memory foam.

Latex foam is often one of the main components in natural and organic mattresses because it’s a naturally-derived foam. You basically collect the sap of a rubber tree, pour it all into a mold, fire it off, and boom — there you have it, latex foam. Along with being a natural material, it’s also naturally hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking.

How firm is the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress?

Since it’s so responsive, we also perceived this bed to be slightly firmer. We have the Medium 12-inch model, and we placed it between a medium and a medium-firm on our scale. This makes it a viable option for all sleep styles, with a slight support advantage for back and stomach sleepers.

Keep in mind that this mattress comes in two different firmness options, and each one has three different height profiles. That’s a total of six different construction variations for the Botanical Bliss. This will heavily affect the overall firmness level of the mattress, and since its latex foams are removable, you can also rearrange them as you see fit until the firmness of the bed is right for you.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress construction

Speaking of construction, let’s take a closer look at the design elements within the Medium 12” version:

1. On the bottom, you’ve got a thick support core of latex foam. This acts as the fundamental support layer for the bed.

2. Then, you have a transition layer of latex foam which acts as a buffer between the support and comfort layers of the bed.

3. Above that, is another layer of latex foam that serves as the main comfort layer for the mattress, it’s perforated with holes to allow for lots of airflow and is also slightly softer.

4. Just beneath the organic cotton cover, the bed has more organic cotton and wool panels for extra comfort.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress performance

Motion isolation

Given the all-latex foam design, it’s not the best option for isolating lots of cross-mattress movement. Since dense memory foam beds usually perform the beds for this category, you might get a superior amount of motion isolation from something like a Tempur-Pedic mattress. Comparatively, the Botanical Bliss is on par with other all-latex foam beds motion isolation-wise.

Edge-to-edge support

This bed also performs average in terms of supporting you along the edges. There’s no apparent roll-off sensation when sleeping close to the perimeter of this mattress at night, but you might experience an even sturdier edge on a latex hybrid bed. Beds with support coils usually perform better edge support-wise, at least based on our tests.

Temperature

While the latex foam in the Botanical Bliss is naturally moisture-wicking, we don’t think it gives the bed a true “active cooling” quality. It may sleep slightly cooler than the average foam bed to an especially hot sleeper, but in general, we’d classify this as a temperature-neutral sleeping mattress.

Durability

For an all-foam bed, we’d say this is a highly durable mattress. In general, latex foam is much more durable long term than standard polyurethane foam. This will likely allow the mattress to last longer than a neutral all-foam bed, especially if you’re a heavier person.

Who is the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress best for?

Since this is a latex foam mattress that’s slightly firmer, it might be best for a specific set of sleeper types. Here’s who we think will benefit from sleeping on the Botanical Bliss mattress the most.

Sleeping position

Given that the bed sits on the firmer side, it’s primarily going to be best for back and stomach sleepers. Based on our observations over the years, we’ve noticed side sleepers tend to favor softer mattresses that offer plenty of pressure relief for their shoulders and hips. For this reason, we wouldn’t recommend this bed for side sleepers straight away. If you’re a combination sleeper who also prefers something slightly firm, you’ll likely enjoy the Botanical Bliss mattress. Again, you do have those other firmness levels to try with this bed, but most will probably range a bit firmer.

Body type

Although it’s an all-foam bed, this is still a great choice for all body types. It’s ideal for supporting medium to petite-sized builds, but heavier people could also get by on it. If you’re on the much heavier side, you may prefer the level of support offered by a hybrid mattress. Those types of beds are better at supporting bigger builds. With the Botanical Bliss, you’re not getting coils on the bottom, but you are getting lots of durability from those three latex foam layers. I think it provides a nice level of support for most people.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress pricing

Size Measurements (inches) Price
Twin 38×75 inches $3,149
Twin XL 38×80 inches $3,249
Full 54×75 inches $3,849
Queen 60×80 inches $3,849
King 76×80 inches $4,149
Cal King 72×84 inches $4,149
Split Queen 60×80 inches $4,348
Split King 76×80 inches $4,448
Split Cal King 72×84 inches $4,448

There’s no getting around it, this is a pretty expensive bed before the discount. For the level of ethically sourced quality you’re getting, I’d say it’s well worth it. After a discount is applied, you’re looking at spending around $2,500 for a queen size — still pretty pricey.

This is also one of the few options online that’s available in split firmness levels, with queen and king sizes to choose from. This is a nice feature to have for couples who can’t seem to agree on one firmness for their next bed. Here, you can split things down the middle.

Trial, shipping and warranty

As a brand, PlushBeds backs this bed with some generous policies. Its beds ship to you in a box for free, and once it’s in your possession, you get a 100-night trial period to try it at home risk-free. If you happen not to like it within that time frame, you can return it for completely free. On the other hand, if you decide to keep it, you’re backed by a lifetime warranty. Just be sure to use the right foundation for the bed. Otherwise, you could void your bed’s warranty.

How does PlushBeds Botanical Bliss compare to other mattresses?

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. Zenhaven By Saatva

These are two more luxurious mattresses within the online space that are also of a natural and organic design. Both feature latex foam feels, and both are backed by eco-certifications. In terms of differences, Zenhaven is a double-sided bed where both sides serve as a sleeping surface. The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Is only a one-side bed. Both of Zenhaven’s sides are much firmer than the Botanical Bliss, which is the softer option of the two. The Botanical Bliss is also the more versatile option, as it’s offered in six different variations and even has split firmnesses to choose from.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. PlushBeds Natural Bliss

These are the main two PlushBeds that our team has tested so far. They’re both super quality, all-latex foam beds with a lot to offer, but there are some key differences between the two. Firstly, the Natural Bliss is a certified vegan mattress, so it swaps out the organic wool used in the Botanical Bliss for more organic cotton. Compared to the Botanical Bliss mattress, the Natural Bliss is the more affordable of the two and it’s also available in different firmness profiles, including split firmness options.

The final verdict

All things considered, this is one of the best natural and organic options I’ve ever come across online. I think the price reflects the level of quality you’re getting, and it’s definitely backed by some of the best eco-certifications in the game. If you want an all-latex foam option that’s on the slightly firmer side, it could be right for you. Also, if you want a really versatile option for couples, it could be great for you and your partner — just so long as you both have the budget for it.

Botanical Bliss mattress FAQs

Where are PlushBeds made?

These mattresses are manufactured in the US, in Camarillo, California. By going the route of PlushBeds you’re also getting an American-made mattress along with an ethically-sourced product.

What kind of latex does PlushBeds use?

The brand primarily uses Dunlop latex foam in the PlushBeds. This is the firmer, more durable style of latex foam compared to Talalay latex foam, which is the softer, more pressure-relieving type. The Dunlop latex foam within these beds is also certified organic.

How long do PlushBeds mattresses last?

As I’ve alluded to, the Botanical Bliss should last you for at least the next 7 to 10 years, if not much longer. Though heavier people can cause beds to degrade faster, that shouldn’t be the case at all with this particular mattress. Compared to an average all-foam bed, the latex foams are designed to provide much more support and durability. The quality construction of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss will help the bed last all body types for many years to come.
