The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is underway. The men’s and women’s football events take place across seven venues in France and conclude with the gold medal matches in the capital’s Parc des Princes. Sunday is the second day of the women’s group stage, with the following matchups:

The men’s event is often seen as a tournament for emerging talent rather than big-name stars, thanks in part to many clubs preventing their key players from appearing — a situation exacerbated by the Olympics taking place almost immediately after the European Championships and the Copa America.
Nevertheless, that gives younger stars of the future and players on the fringes a chance to shine on the international stage. France’s Michael Olise, Argentina’s Julian Alvarez and Spain’s Juan Miranda are all expected to play big roles. Former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry is set to serve as coach for the host nation. On Saturday, on the second day of the men’s group stage, Argentina, Spain, Ukraine, Egypt, Paraguay, the US, France and Japan won their matches.
The second day of the women’s group stage is Sunday. It’s a somewhat different story for the women’s event, with the qualified teams set to feature more familiar squads. Unlike the men’s tournament, sides aren’t limited to having three players over the age of 23, meaning star players such as Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí of Spain, Brazilian forward Marta and the US’ up-and-coming striker Sophia Smith are all set to feature.
World Cup holders Spain come into the women’s tournament as favorites, while all eyes will be on how the USWNT performs under the guidance of new English coach Emma Hayes.

When do the 2024 Olympic football events start and end?
While the 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony takes place on Friday, July 26, the men’s football event kicks off proceedings a couple of days earlier. The first four fixtures of the tournament, including Argentina vs. Morocco and Uzbekistan vs. Spain, take place on Wednesday, July 24. The eventual gold medal match takes place on Friday, Aug. 9.
First-round fixtures of the women’s tournament get started on Thursday, July 25, with the final in Paris due to take place on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Paris is 6 hours ahead of New York and the rest of the Eastern time zone. It’s 7 hours ahead of the Central time zone, 8 hours ahead of Mountain time and 9 hours ahead of Pacific time.

Do I need Peacock to watch the Olympic soccer in the US?

The BBC will broadcast the 2024 Games on its free-to-air channels, but coverage is limited to BBC One and BBC Two. You can also live stream all the action from Paris on BBC iPlayer.

Quick tips for streaming the 2024 Olympic football using a VPN
- With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — your experience and success when streaming the Olympic soccer live may vary.
- If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
- If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
- All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
- Remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.
