If you’re in the US and buy a PlayStation 5 console between now and October 20, 2023, you will be entitled to a free PS5 digital game of your choosing. This brand-new deal is eligible for any who will buy or have bought the console since September 20. This could be a great offer for anyone who is picking up a PS5 in the near future (or before Spider-Man 2 exclusively launches on the console), and well worth keeping an eye on.

Free Qualifying Digital PS5 Games

Once again, this deal is only applicable to new PS5 owners (activating your console after September 20). So those of us who have had the console for a while will be missing out on this one.

But, for those who are only just getting around to buying their new console, you can enjoy a new game free of charge. From The Last of Us Part 1, to the recent critical darling God of War: Ragnarok, you’ve got plenty to choose from.

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered
  • God of War: Ragnarok
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut
  • Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Demon’s Souls
  • The Last of Us: Part 1
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure
  • Returnal
  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
  • Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

How to Redeem the Offer

1. Buy and Activate Your New PS5 Console: First, you’ll need to purchase and activate your brand-new PS5 console. See the console at Amazon here for $499.

2. Navigate to the PlayStation Store: Once your PS5 console is activated, head to the PlayStation Store directly from your console.

3. Look for the Banner: Keep an eye out for a banner showcasing this promotion. Click on the banner, which will take you to the Games Page, featuring eligible titles.

4. Select Your Free Game: From the list of eligible games, choose one that piques your interest.

5. Download Your Game: Click the ‘Download’ button to initiate the downloading process.

To secure your free PS5 game, be sure to purchase and activate your new PS5 console by October 20, 2023. Additionally, the digital title must be redeemed on your activated PS5 console no later than the same date.

This month-long deal is another in the long line of stellar PS5 discounts we’ve been seeing recently, which is also coming hot off the heels of rumors regarding the alleged PS5 ‘Slim’ and/or ‘Pro’ models in the work. Microsoft also referenced these in the recent FTC v. Microsoft hearing, predicting that the slim console could be priced around $399.99, with recent leaks also confirming that Xbox was also working on mid-gen console refreshes.

Black Friday and Prime Day 2 PS5 Deals

It’s also worth noting that both Prime Day 2 (October Prime Day/ Prime Big Deal Days) and the Black Friday deal season are rapidly approaching. We can expect to see an influx of deals in the near future, possibly including enticing bundle offers. While the current offer is appealing, especially if you’re eager to secure a PS5 quickly, exercising a bit of patience could yield an even more rewarding deal.

Sony has already reduced the console’s price by $50 in recent sales, and there are rumors of a slim model priced at around $400, compared to the current disc model at $499. This suggests there will be ample opportunities to score a PS5 at more affordable prices if you’re willing to wait a bit longer. Keep an eye out for upcoming Prime Day 2 and Black Friday deals, as they may offer even better value.
