Need Some New Nintendo Switch Games? Mario Titles Are Up to 33% Off Right Now [CNET]

This limited-time Woot sale cuts the price of Super Mario Odyssey, Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and more.

A bunch of Mario games for the Nintendo Switch have received limited-time discounts from Woot. The retailer has cut the cost of these fantastic titles by up to 33%, thanks to direct discounts plus an extra $5 deduction that can be applied at checkout when you use code GAMES. 

The biggest discount applies to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which only launched for the console in May. The remake of the beloved 2004 GameCube RPG is down to its cheapest price yet of $45 when you use that code, a 25% saving.

The brilliant Super Mario Odyssey is even cheaper, down to $40 right now. Jeff Bakalar described the 3D platformer as a “damn masterpiece” in his review for CNET. This particular passage sums it up quite well: “Super Mario Odyssey works so well because it takes chances and rarely plays it safe. It’s the progression of Mario you’ve always wanted but could never put into words.” While not the lowest price we’ve seen — that would be $30 from Amazon back in July 2023 — it’s still an incredibly rare $20 discount and you’d be hard-pressed to find a game this joyful.

In addition to this, the Nintendo all-star fighter Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been reduced reduced to $45, representing a $15 saving. There are a whopping 74 characters ready to brawl with one another here, including Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, Pikachu, Cloud, Mega Man, Zelda and plenty more familiar faces. A further 13 characters were then made available via DLC. Incredible value for money. 

The same $45 price point has also been afforded to Super Mario 3D World, a platformer that enhances the 2013 Wii U title along with adding the superb Bowser’s Fury. Both are colorful, inventive and genuine delights to play, either by yourself or in multiplayer. The double-pack, along with the aforementioned Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, made our list of the best multiplayer Switch games. 

The full list of Switch games available in this sale can be claimed until midnight on Aug. 23, 2024, or until the games sell out. It’s undoubtedly up there with the best Nintendo Switch sales we’ve seen for quite some time.
