MySmartBlinds Automation Kit

Imagine being able to remotely control every blind in every room of your home from just your mobile device. How about being able to automatically tilt your blinds to let in sunlight or shut them for privacy according to different times of the day? Motorized blinds and shades seem to be all the craze in smart homes these days but the steep price tag per unit (at least $200 and up) has deterred a lot of people from being able to afford and enjoy this luxury. But what if you have the option of automating your existing blinds for only $99 per unit?

Enter MySmartBlinds, a retrofit home automation kit that turns regular 2- and 2.5-inch horizontal blinds into motorized blinds that can be controlled remotely using the MySmartBlinds app.

How does MySmartBlinds work?

The MySmartBlinds Automation Kit uses Bluetooth technology to control tilting horizontal blinds. All users need to do is to install the hardware in the kit – a motor box, manual switch, battery pack, and rod adapter based on the type of tilt rod of their blinds (No tools needed), download the MySmartBlinds app to their mobile device from the App Store or Google Play, and then pair and calibrate the blinds with the app. And voila… Those old blinds are now motorized and can be automated by using the app!  They contain a lithium battery to power the motor that can last around 6 months per charge, and there’s even a ‘solar panel’ adapter that can keep them always charged and working.

MySmartBlinds app features

The MySmartBlinds app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. It is compatible with Apple devices running iOS 7 or later. The Android app currently available in Google Play supports Android 4.3. According to the MySmartBlinds website, a new and improved Android app is currently under construction so that it is able to support the later OS versions.
