Magic: The Gathering’s next video game crossover incorporates the world of Assassin’s Creed into the card game. Like the (still-upcoming) Fallout Magic: The Gathering expansion, the Assassin’s Creed set is based in the “Universes Beyond” theme, the lore of which lets synergistic crossovers like this occur.

If you’re an AC fan who wants to dabble in card games, or a MTG fan who wants to dabble in historical murder, you’re in luck. Magic: The Gathering Assassin’s Creed cards are now available to preorder at Amazon (check here if you’re in the UK). They come in a variety of packages, and are set to release July 5. Okay, let’s do a leap of faith-style dive into the details.

MTG – Assassin’s Creed Starter Kit

Contains 2 ready-to-play 60-card decks (including 2 Mythic Rare card and 8 Rare cards), 1 Learn-to-Play Guide, and 2 boxes to store your decks.

Anyone who’s feeling rusty when it comes to Magic: The Gathering, or who wants to introduce a friend to the game, may want to pick this one up. It’s a kit that comes with everything you need to learn how to play. You get two ready-to-play 60-card decks, plus a rule book that eases you into the magical fray. Each deck contains the following: 2 Mythic Rare cards (including one with a shining Traditional Foil treatment), plus 8 Rare cards. It also includes two boxes to store your decks. That’s handy.

MTG – Assassin’s Creed Beyond Boosters

Moving beyond the starter kit are these Beyond Boosters. These are available to preorder in two configurations. The Bundle comes with 9 Beyond Boosters, each of which contain 7 cards featuring characters, items, and moments from the Assassin’s Creed games. Alongside that, you get the accessories listed above. If you don’t need those accessories, you can alternatively pick up a Beyond Booster Box, which includes 24 packs, with 7 cards in each.

Here’s what comes in a 7-card Beyond booster pack:

  • 1 Basic land card (or non-foil borderless scene card)
  • 3 Uncommon cards
  • 1 Rare or mythic rare card
  • 1 Traditional foil uncommon, rare, or mythic rare card
  • 1 Showcase uncommon, rare, or mythic rare card (can also be traditional foil)

Finally we come to the priciest packs of the bunch, Collector Boosters. Each pack has 10 cards, including special cards like shining foils, Rare cards, and alt-art and alt-frame cards. Every pack has 2 Foil-Etched cards and may include a Textured Foil card or unique Double Rainbow Foil Serialized card. Every pack also contains 1-2 Extended-Art cards (a Collector Booster exclusive) and 1-3 Borderless cards that let the art extend all the way to the edge of the cards.

You can see examples of the cards on the Wizards of the Coast blog.
