Ford Mustang Mach-E’s most efficient trim gets final EPA range estimate – Roadshow [CNET]

To squeeze just a little more range from the electric SUV, the California Route 1 trim comes exclusively with a rear-wheel drive layout and the extended-range battery. Ford engineers also tossed in aero inserts to make it a slicker thing while driving. Otherwise, it’s the same SUV. It will also be a far more affordable way to put a Mustang Mach-E with a 300-plus mile range in your garage. While the Premium trim is equipped to go 300 miles costs $56,700, the California Route 1 trim starts at $53,500.

The first electric SUVs made their way to customers at the end of last year, but unfortunately, Ford confirmed delays for the vehicle. Right now, many customers are seeing delays up to eight weeks, pushing delivery times into March. Ford’s reasoning for the delays surrounds additional quality checks after the car ships from Mexico to the US.

It’s not clear if the current delays will translate to an even later introduction for the California Route 1 trim, though. Ford previously said the trim would launch sometime in 2021 with no further specifics to share. But, if you want the bargain long-range Mustang Mach-E, the EPA figures show it’ll be worth the wait.
