Fallout: London Won’t Work With Epic Games Store Copies of Fallout 4 [IGN]

A GOG spokesperson confirmed the trouble with Epic Games Store support with VG247. Fallout: London will require players to downgrade their versions of Fallout 4 wherever they’ve purchased it. That means reverting the latest version of the game to an earlier update, with options available to do so being offered for storefronts like Steam and GOG.

GOG, which is helping distribute the mod, says the Epic Games Store’s lack of support for update rollbacks will keep players on that platform from enjoying Fallout: London.

Ideally, the mod will eventually be usable with current versions of Fallout 4, but FOLON will need more time to get such a version of the experience up and running. Until then, Epic Game Store players will have to wait.

Epic Games Store representatives declined to comment.

Fallout: London’s challenged release

The Fallout: London team at FOLON has generally had their hands tied when it comes to the release of the gargantuan fan-made experience. The project was originally set to launch on April 23 but saw an indefinite delay following developer Bethesda’s announcement that it would drop its own sizeable next-gen update for the fourth numbered Fallout entry on April 25. The update threw a wrench into ther plans of Fallout’s large community of modders, including the developers at FOLON, as it meant Fallout: London would likely not work properly without preparation for Bethesda’s new patch.

The modding studio said it felt “blindsided” at the time but would push on to continue its work on one of the most hotly anticipated mods in recent memory. Now, with its launch expected to arrive soon, there will still be a few hiccups to overcome.

It’s unclear how long Fallout: London will be kept from Epic Games Store players’ hands, but it’s also unclear when the project will release at all. For now, GOG tells VG247 that its still testing the mod, so there is still some time to wait before its launch on other platforms.
