Amazon Echo Spot

Echo Spot is basically Amazon Echo with a 2.5-inch screen that serves as a smart alarm clock that is powered by Alexa. The compact, circular design gives the Echo Spot a stylish look, enabling it to blend seamlessly into any home.

Echo Spot Features

Second-generation far-field technology with four microphones makes Alexa better at understanding across-the-room voice commands compared to previous Echo devices.

Enhanced noise cancellation makes Alexa a better listener, even when there is music playing.

For users with multiple Echo devices, ESP (Echo-Spatial Perception) enables Alexa to respond only from the Echo device they are closest to. How ESP works is that when Alexa is called, all Echo devices within range will light up but only the Echo device that is closest to the user will respond to the commands.

The screen of the Echo Spot can be used to show the weather, watch a movie trailer, look at live camera feed for a particular room, view a shopping list, and a whole lot more.

“Alexa, show my calendar for today?”

“Alexa, play my video briefing.”

Users are also able to customize the clock face of the Echo Spot or set a photo background from their Prime Photos account, much like customizing the watch face on a smart watch.

The front-facing camera enables the user to make voice or video calls by telling Alexa to call. At the time of writing, video calls can only be made to anyone with an Echo Spot, Echo Show, or the Alexa app.

“Alexa, call Tom’s mobile.”

Like the other Echo devices, the Echo Spot can be used to control smart home devices, such as lights, thermostats, door locks, cameras, and more. A list of smart home devices that are compatible with Alexa can be found here.

“Alexa, show me the nursery.”

“Alexa, turn on the front porch light.”
