Castlevania Dominus Collection Shadow Dropping on Switch With Multiple Classic DS Games – Nintendo Direct [IGN]

Four more classic Castlevania games are coming to the Nintendo Switch, joining the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Castlevania Advance Collection already available on the platform. Even better, they’re available later today.

The collection announced during Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct will include ports of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. Of them all, Dawn of Sorrow is regarded as one of the best games in the series, while Order of Ecclesia is one of the rarest. Portrait of Ruin, for its part, is considered one of the weaker entries, but it does have some fun connections to Castlevania Bloodlines.

The DS release raised some questions among fans about how they would handle the touchscreen elements from the platform, such as drawing seals in Dawn of Sorrow. However, it sounds like Konami turned them into simple button QTEs.

Outside of the DS games, the collection will include a remake of Haunted Castle, the arcade version of Castlevania released in 1988. It features redone graphics, rebalanced difficulty, and the original Haunted Castle. The full collection is also available on Steam.

The release of the Castlevania DS Collection means that virtually every major 2D Castlevania game will be available on the Switch save, strangely enough, Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night — two of the most beloved entries in the series. Maybe someday, vampire hunters.
