PlayStation and Astro Bot developer Team Asobi are seemingly thinking about an Astro Bot sequel already, teasing a return of the modern day mascot in the PS5 game’s trophies.

Astro Bot’s trophy list has appeared online ahead of its September 6, 2024 release date and X/Twitter user @Genki_JPN spotted its coveted Platinum Trophy suggests Astro Bot’s adventures are far from over.

The trophy, titled Astro-nomical, has the following description: “Earned all trophies. Well done, and see you in Astro’s next adventure!”

This obviously comes before Astro Bot has been released, and sales figures and critical reception will likely influence the future of the franchise above anything else, but there’s no denying Astro Bot is now a beloved PlayStation character.

First introduced in The Playroom app on PlayStation 4, Astro grew in popularity upon the release of PlayStation VR title Astro Bot Rescue Mission and even more so with the launch of the PlayStation 5.

Sony included a short but sweet free game called Astro’s Playroom with every console, and IGN’s 8/10 review called it “a great showcase for the varied, impressive ways the DualSense can immerse you in next-gen games.”

Astro Bot is a full sequel to this game, and already appears ready to carry on the mantle. “Built on the foundation of Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot seemed poised to elevate the Astro games into a league all their own, if they weren’t there already,” IGN said in our preview.
