Arktika.1 (Oculus Touch)

Arktika.1 is a fully-immersive sci-fi horror shooter developed 4A Games – the studio that brought us the Metro series first person shooters.  Arktika.1 is slated to be released on October 10th.  Arktika.1 is being designed exclusively for the Oculus Touch in collaboration with Oculus Studios.  So you know they’ll have some amazing high-level interactivity rarely seen in modern VR games today.

The game is set in the year 2120, on a post-apocalyptic Earth in the middle of a second ice age. (Thank you, Global Warming!) Humans have migrated from all over to inhabit the resource-rich areas of the planet to the north and the south. The player plays as a ‘Citadel Security’ employee hired by the last remaining humans in old Russia to protect the colony from “violent raiders, marauders, and horrifying creatures”, and ultimately save humanity from the horrors that dwell amongst them.

Arktika.1 is said to use the latest version of the 4A Engine to create a fully-immersive environment as players go through the world, shooting up all kinds of technological and biological horrors along the way in order to survive (reminiscent of the Metro series but now in a VR environment). The game promises high-end VR visuals, detailed and realistic gunplay, featuring both old-school and futuristic weapons.  Features include full-body tactical combat movements, such as touching, dodging, and taking cover, which will be very interesting to see in VR.
