Apple’s iPhone 16 Glowtime Event: What We Expect video [CNET]

Apple set the date for its iPhone 16 event. Expect AI and Siri to be the big focus with the Glowtime tagline. CNET’s Bridget Carey goes over what to expect, including new iPhone 16 models, Apple Watch 10 and updates to AirPods.

It’s Glow Time Apple sent out invitations for its next big iphone reveal event and it’s all happening Monday, September 9th, broadcasting from the Apple Park headquarters at 10 a.m. Pacific 1 p.m. Eastern. But the funny thing about iphone events is that there’s so much more announced than just new iphones. This is Apple’s biggest event of the year. So we will likely see a new design on the Apple watch. And this is also when folks think we’re going to see new air pods and will Tim cook give us one more thing. Well, here’s what you can expect to see on September 9th. I’m Bridget Carey and this is a bonus episode of one more thing. There are always clues hidden in the Apple event invites and this multi colored Apple aura is 100% a hint toward the new Apple Intelligence version of Siri that’s coming to the next generation of iphones where the assistant will glow around the border of the school. In other words, when A I is involved, things are getting colorful and the color palette is similar to the WW DC invite that introduced the new A I features. Now Apple tends to open up online pre orders for the new iphone on the Friday after the event. So orders might begin on Lucky Friday the 13th and then the iphone will land in stores and on doorsteps on Friday the 20th. As usual, we expect to get four flavors of the new iphone, the 16 and 16 plus and then the more powerful 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max Apple leaker, Sonny Dixon posted these photos to X where the 16 and 16 plus could come in these shades, a bright blue, a sea green and a soft pink along with the usual white and black plus. Notice how the cameras are stacked vertically in this redesign instead of diagonally as before and this alignment is likely changed so that when you turn it horizontally, you can probably take 3d video for the vision Pro. Now what about colors for the high end Pro models earlier in the year in May Apple analyst, Ming Chi Ko said the blue Titanium of the iphone Pro is predicted to be replaced by a new rose model. Could we finally get a pink Pro iphone? Well, I don’t know anymore that same leaker as before Sonny Dixon. He didn’t show a pink Pro picture and said he posted a photo of this brown model, a desert Titanium if you will, I wouldn’t but nothing is official. So we shall see it looks like the big change is a new capture button on the outside the iphone 16 is rumored to have a brand new button on the right border to be used for taking photos and it might be an interesting type of button where it could do different things depending on how you touch it. Maybe you’ll just put the photo and focus if you give it a little bit of a finger pressure press rather than press it down all the way. And that’s been reported on by a few outlets now. But I really think Apple is going to lean a lot into talking about how great it is upgrade with its new A I and what you can do with the camera and how much zoom you’re going to get and all these new models that will be something to watch. Apple’s other products could steal headlines away from the iphone. The Apple Watch series 10 is expected to arrive and will it get the Roman numeral X like the iphone 10 Bloomberg reporter, Mark Eman reports that it’s gonna be thinner and with a larger screen and that redesign might mean the bands connect in a different way. So your old band might be obsolete, but it was 10 years ago that Apple introduced the watch to the world. So you would think Apple might want something special for version 10 with this watch also get some new big health monitoring features. Well, Bloomberg suggested the watch might tell you when your blood pressure is high but not actually give you exact blood pressure readings and maybe the watch could help detect sleep apnea. Apple has been working on a lot of health features but it’s hard to know which are ready to launch in this model. Now, I would expect Apple to talk a lot about how great it is for you to sleep with your Apple watch. Even though a lot of folks charge it when they sleep. And what about the ultra? Well, I don’t know if there’s gonna be many changes. It might look the same on the outside. And what about the cheaper Apple watch? Se three? Well, Bloomberg reported that they might have a hard plastic in a future version instead of aluminum. Now, if that happens this year, I would think Apple’s targeting this as a product parents would want to give to their kids. Apple is expected to also give a little love to the airpods lineup. According to Bloomberg, we could see a few models refreshed. There might be a new low end and mid tier version of the ear buds and Apple might put noise cancellation features in these less expensive models. Now, the upgrade I think people would like more is the rumor that the case could have a speaker to play a sound so you can ping the speaker when you can’t find where you left it. Now keep your ears open for Apple to talk about how an upgrade to the airpods pro could have an hearing aid mode that might help folks living with some hearing loss, but it’s not so clear that we’re going to get new airpods max those over the ear headsets, these first launched in 2020 they cost about $550 but they have never been updated and people have been awaiting the sequel. I mean, Apple’s got to change out the light to a USB C at some point. Right. It’ll be interesting to see if A I steals the spotlight of the show or maybe we’ll hear what tricks these new products can do. Thanks to A I software and I’m always crossing my fingers that an update to Siri means home pods might get a tease for an upgrade. Could it be the one more thing? It’s doubtful. I think Apple’s biggest priority right now is to show folks why this year’s iphone 16 is worth the upgrade in a time where folks just don’t need to upgrade their phones as often.
